Introduction
For the past few decades motor carrier industry has become the preferred choice as a mode of transportation for most of manufactured goods. For instance, since the year 2000 to the year 2003, intercity trucking has been able to carry up to 8 billion tones of manufactured goods to a distance of more than 1.2 trillion miles per year. As a matter of fact, it is important to remember that motor carriers have played a great role in transportation of both imported and exported goods at different ports; and for the case of the United States, the port that is located in the Savannah Georgia (Barcos et al., 2010). Considering the ever growing demand for the manufactured goods as well as an increase in the imported products; motor carriers have indeed played a vital role in ensuring that the goods are delivered right on time to their different destinations in the United States and the rest of the world. These carrier motors have also ensured that these products are delivered within a reasonable budget and at the same time keeping the customers happy. A good example of the ever increasing demand for the exports and imports is the project that is going on at the Savannah Harbor Deepening project. This can be confirmed by the fact that they have been constantly dredging it out so as to increase the depth of water to allow for the accommodation of new cargo ships (Eggers et al.,2010).
