Question 1
The concept of group awareness refers to the information group members in an organization obtain from other group members of the same organization who are working on similar processes and objectives but in an efficient manner. Irrefutably, group awareness aids in alleviating the inherent dilemma in organizations and the plight of information exchange. Consequently, it is prudent for the company to efficiently apply group awareness in its organization to impact its organizational development and performance.
There are various ways in which the company can improve group awareness. First, the company can design a strategy to identify the right individuals to perform particular issues depending on their levels of expertise and specialization (Letto, 2018). By doing the above, individuals in an organization will be able to appreciate various groups, such as the microcosm group. Also, the organization can promote group awareness through official communication, where it will tell the role and need for entertaining particular groups. Additionally, an organization can promote group awareness by building a coalition of individuals that they believe can address specific issues or get certain things done (Letto, 2018). By doing the above, the organization will be serving as an example and thus motivating individuals to work towards achieving specific objectives. By doing the above, the company will have improved group awareness.
Question 2
A microcosm group is a group that is comprised of a small number of individuals that reflect on a particular issue and come up with solutions. Consequently, a microcosm group can be used by an organization to address various problems, especially those revolving around an organization. The group, however, must follow an inevitable process to address particular issues.
There are various steps that a microcosm group must use to address organization-wide issues. First, the organization must identify a particular organization-wide problem that it seeks to address through diagnosis or a generation of an idea from its member ("Organization Development Business Management," n.d.). Second, the organization must form a group of individuals that it believes are well suited for the task, especially stakeholders related to the organization-wide issue ("Organization Development Business Management," n.d.). Third, the group must undergo training to equip the members with particular skills essential for having a good working relationship and providing viable solutions ("Organization Development Business Management," n.d.). The fourth step involves addressing the organization-wide issue by the microcosm group ("Organization Development Business Management," n.d.). Finally, the group is disbanded since it will have attained its objectives. If an organization uses a microcosm group to address organization-wide issues, it is prudent to use the above process and steps.
