This data will be collected and arranged according to the study questions presented in the research proposal. The purpose of this arrangement will be to ensure that the results are reliable and generalizable. The process will contribute towards establishing the credible results of the study. The results will be recorded to assess how IoT has helped improve the lives of urban swellings. The findings will report urban dwellers' changing electricity and water consumption patterns. A significant change in consumption patterns will confirm the effectiveness of the technology in improving resource conservation. Conservation of more resources translates to better efficiency, allowing more society members to access the increasingly limited resources.
The second research question will focus on how different people interact with technology and how people have benefited from this interaction. Technology has significantly improved the way people interact with each other and their activities. This test question will focus on determining whether the participants are interested in using technology to conserve resources or clean the environment. The respondent will be required to explain their interaction with technology and how this interaction has changed their lives in one way or the other. Neupane et al. (2021) note that using innovative and smart technologies for smart city operations is important. However, it is more important to assess the intention of adopting the available technologies.
Providing the technologies to people who have no intention of implementing them may turn out to be a futile process. While resource conservation is an important target in smart city technologies, it is equally important to ensure that the people know and are willing to adopt the new technologies. Therefore, while the study will focus on obtaining the results on how smart technologies can help conserve the resources, it will also attempt to ensure that the information obtained is generalizable. Ensuring that the data is generalizable will help.
The third question will identify the adoption rate of IoT devices in households. This study will also seek to determine how many people are willing to adopt the new technologies for resource conservation. According to the available research, trust plays an essential role in consumers’ adoption of IoT technologies (AlHogail, 2018). Currently, there are several misconceptions peddled against the IoT devices that some people may be skeptical towards embracing them. The adoption rate will assess the people’s general perception of the technologies and how this perception can be changed to increase the adoption rate.
