Communication culture and climate are essential for any company since they determine the manner of information sharing. Effective communication in the company enhances productivity and success due to positive relationships between the management, employees, and customers. Communication climate is a specific social tone that determines the relationships of individuals in the organization (Ihlen & Heath, 2018). It is developed by how the workers value and see themselves. Communication culture is the way an organization encourages employees, promotes conversation, and shares information. Therefore, communication culture and climate are related. The journal entry addresses communication climate and culture and relates it to my company Berkshire Hathaway.
Diversity Awareness in Communications
Diversity awareness is essential in communications, especially in large organizations such as Berkshire Hathaway. Diversity awareness is recognizing that different individuals, regardless of their cultural or ethnic backgrounds, have unique and fundamental ideas during communications (Kamales & Knorr, 2019). Most organizations have employees from different backgrounds with unique communication approaches; recognizing them is essential for efficient and effective information sharing. Besides, successful communication must bring together individuals from different age groups, communities, and backgrounds for effective decision-making and organizational stability. Diversity is significant in communications for various reasons. The main advantage is that it enhances inclusivity and reduces organizational conflicts. It also creates a unified corporate culture and enhances employees' productivity. Therefore, for successful diversity awareness in communications, it is necessary to consider the cultures and backgrounds which constitute the workplace. The level of diversity awareness in my organization's climate is high since the company focuses on intercultural communication. Different teams, especially the sales department, recognize and embrace different cultures during communications. For instance, the company has a unique program that brings together the employees from all branches to establish strong communication and unity. Therefore, from a managerial perspective, intense diversity awareness enables the company to build strong working relationships with the employees.
Demographic Makeup of the Organization
My organization is diverse and advocates for a higher level of inclusivity from the management to the low-level employee. Cultural diversity and inclusivity enable the organization to identify the capability and strengths of the employees regardless of their cultural background.
