A leader is a person who guides their colleagues to success and helps them excel at what they do best. A leader is the polar opposite of a boss because a boss is a person who gives orders to their colleagues without assisting them, whereas leaders give orders and assist their colleagues in achieving those orders. Moreover, these are the type of leaders we need in business because a company that values its employees as a component of its overall success is a firm with a bright future. In this post, the author will use the Harvard Business Review Go-to leadership tests to determine whether what they have to say about my chosen kind of leadership aligns with my reasoning.
Go-to and Supplemental Leadership Styles
On the website provided by the Harvard Business Review website, I have chosen the Collaborator style as my primary type of leadership and the Pilot type of leadership as my supplementary leadership. I chose the Collaborative style of leadership because I have this belief that the sake of my teammates must come first before achieving our primary goal, but of course, it must be attained at the fastest time possible. According to another article by Samur (2019), collaborative leadership is a management technique that aims to break down divisions and bring together managers, executives, and employees to cooperate. In collaborative organizations, information is transferred spontaneously, and everyone bears responsibility for the whole. The latter is the Pilot type of leadership challenge, and uncertainties often come on my way, so I need to be ready for new challenges and working environments.
These leaders always have an advantage at some point. However, they also have a disadvantage in other fields, or as the Harvard Business Review Go-to website refers to it, the collaborator leadership has a weakness at exposure because it only focuses on its team. Not much on exploring other organizations, not enough exposure means not enough chances to collaborate in other groups. Making sure that everyone works in the same phase as you will be difficult because I appreciate my team, which means I will constantly consider their working speeds and attempt to go with them, which may be difficult because being a team leader and a leader can be contradictory at times. My chosen leadership style's primary shortcoming is my team's notoriety and exposure to a larger audience.
My primary leadership style contradicts my primary supplemental blind spot, which states that interacting with my team will be difficult since my primary leadership style is "pilot," which implies goal-oriented rather than team-oriented. Another blind hole in my supplemental leadership is my fear of letting others lead and repressing my drive to succeed.
Collaboration enhances the way your team works together and solves problems. This results in more significant innovation, efficient procedures, better success, and enhanced communication CITATION Mor17 \l 1033 (Morley & Cashell, 2017). ...
