Companies’ development planning systems (also known as development planning processes) vary in the level of sophistication and the emphasis they place on different components of the process. Steps and responsibilities in the development planning system are shown in Figure 9.1.

In this assignment, in order to better understand the development planning process (Figure 9.1 in the Noe textbook), you will apply the development planning process to yourself. Use the development plan in Figure 9.2 for some ideas. Do not use bullets in your Unit 9 Worksheet. Develop your ideas and present them in sentences and paragraphs.
Remember, the development planning process proceeds sequentially from “self-assessment” to “reality check” to “goal setting” to “action planning” (Figure 9.1).

Strengths
Being aware of one’s strengths is needed to boost confidence. One must have meticulous attention to detail, efficient communication skills, empathy, and compassion. The job requires high attention to detail because it involves different data that must be correctly interpreted and transcribed. It is necessary to pay close attention to the gestures of patients and the physical or mental health changes; noticing these minor details about a patient's health can save lives. It is also necessary to communicate clearly and directly. The job necessitates communication with a wide range of people. Strong communication skills are required to understand how and when to communicate most effectively to meet each individual's unique needs. Empathy and compassion are important attributes of any healthcare job. These two are essential in providing care that truly benefits their patients; empathy for what others are going through and compassion to foster care to lessen the patient’s pain. These characteristics can aid in emotionally connecting with and supporting patients in distress. In all, these are the strengths that help a nursing assistant to perform the tasks better. One should not stop developing; these strengths are stepping stones to achieving greater and bigger things. These strengths must also be used to help the community – the patients, the co-workers, the ordinary citizens.
Areas for Improvement
Being aware of one's flaws is essential for taking input, applying comments, and improving as a healthcare professional. The weaknesses are related to the strengths (Navarro-Abal et al., 2018). The attachment to the patients is too strong due to too much empathy and compassion, to the point where the nursing assistant is affected by the patient's death. Also, the tasks take a long time to accomplish because of the attention to detail. The tasks must be completed flawlessly, taking an inordinate amount of time. Finally, the degree of flexibility is delimited. It takes time to adjust to the changes that are taking place. These things must be improved to be a better nursing assistant and provide better service. Self-awareness is the first step toward improvement; identifying one's strengths and areas for improvement can aid in determining the appropriate actions to take. One should not be ashamed or afraid of one's flaws because one can always seek assistance from others. Thus, people must work hand in hand to develop the areas that need improvement.
