Adaptive Leadership and Decision Making in Global Pandemic
The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic presents several unparalleled challenges to policymakers as well as the business community in general. How well and quickly policymakers and business community leaders react to the new crisis has a profound effect on people’s lives and wellbeing. The main challenge, in this case, is how to guarantee collective decision-making based on emerging evidence, trends, and changing scientific understanding given the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic. Experiences gained from this pandemic have highlighted the need for adaptive leadership if organizations have to remain resilient and sustainable in the long run. Now more than ever, there is a need for adaptation both at the leadership and operational levels. Operationally, there is a need to implement evidence-based leadership strategies and to adjust the type of interventions being currently employed. This in turn calls for adaptive leadership strategies, the need for openness and transparency concerning learning as well as the need to build trust between communities and individuals.

In addition, leaders should be able to articulate these needs as this will help in developing a collective understanding of emerging issues. Being able to remain adaptable is also necessary for continuous learning and adjustment to the market needs. In doing so, the firm was able to articulate these needs and adapt various business models that would eventually help it to be at the forefront of developing a solution to the problem. Various other organizations have applied different strategies to help them remain operational in the face of the new pandemic.
One strategy of dealing with the current pandemic is by ensuring that there is evidence-based learning. This calls for continuous assessment of actions as well as reorganization aimed at ensuring a continuous iterate. Equally, this strategy is also aimed at helping organizations to adapt interventions based on the knowledge they gain from their decisions (Nissim & Simon, 2021). Evidence-based learning in this case requires establishing clear processes for evaluating available options. In this context, adaptive leaders should be able to spearhead the collection and interpretation of evidence which in turn will be used can be used to establish key success measures. In addition, such leaders should ensure that there is a continuous collection of data and a clear-cut process of how changes in trend...
