1 Introduction
* Video games have for a long time been linked with creating violent aggression amongst players especially when these games contain content that expresses or depicts violence.
* Thesis: While it is true that violent video games have negative effects including causing violent aggression, and encouraging the expression of pre-existing hostile traits, the games have positive effects too such as promoting social skills, improving an individual’s physical and mental health, and helping to reduce violent crime.
2 Violence in video games is associated with an increase in violent aggression among players because these games tend to increase feelings and attitudes of hostility, which consequently lead to aggressive behavior.
* Video games are very addictive and they lead to aggressive behavior especially when the players lose control over violent video games.
* Adolescents from families that have no restrictions when it comes to media exposure are more likely to show aggressiveness after playing violent video games.
3 Violent video games have a negative effect whereby they encourage people to express pre-existing hostile traits, which might not be good when translated to the real life situation.
