The Evidence-Based Solutions Paper aligns with Student Learning Outcomes 1) Substantiate an identified health care issue and 2) Analyze solutions to a health care issue based on a critical appraisal of the evidence.

Students will build upon the Significance of the Problem Paper as the Evidence-Based Solutions Paper.
The purpose of the Evidence-Based Solutions Paper is to describe the nature and significance of the local healthcare problem and conduct a review of the evidence on what is known about the healthcare problem and on effective interventions.

• Review of the Evidence .
o To organize and synthesize current relevant evidence and best practice standard based on the current evidence. Can also include classic evidence as needed to demonstrate historical/groundbreaking/foundational evidence.
 Encourage to use additional APA levels of heading 2, 3, 4, and 5 as needed including organizing main/overarching synthesis areas. Include a review of available research, guidelines, reviews, other literature, and supplemental evidence through a critical appraisal.
• To review additional evidence on what is known about the healthcare problem.
• To review evidence on effective interventions known to address or close what kinds of gaps or addressed what kinds of needed improvements.
• Describe why the interventions worked.
• Can also include evidence on interventions that did not work and why.

Mindfulness mediation training refers to a type of mediation that focuses individuals on becoming extremely aware of what they are sensing and feeling at an exact time without making interpretations or judgments (Pepping, Walters, Davis & O’Donovan, 2016, pp.542). The intervention encompasses distinct breathing methods, guided images, and other practices to ease stress and relax the body and mind. Many clinical trials that have studied this practice consider it effective in alleviating stress, anxiety, depression, and balancing thoughts and emotions, thereby weakening the association one makes between a specific group of people and negative attitudes (Pepping al et., 2016, pp.542). With negative attitudes and racial bias ravaging through the U.S.’s psych units when treating people of color, mindfulness mediation training has immerged as an effective strategy to eliminate this problem.
Mindfulness meditation is considered effective in reducing implicit race and age bias. According to Adam Lueke and Bryan Gibson’s (2016) research study, where 92 participants were taken through different mindfulness measures, the results showed that practicing mindfulness enabled individuals learn to nurture their awareness and consider their thoughts as temporary events separate from their identity. Hence, this reduced their automatic bias and weakened their association of people of color to negative tendencies, thus, eliminating implicit bias. Also, it opened up the participants to move past their biases by handling all strangers, whether white or black, with the same benefit of the doubt, hence an objective interaction (Lueke, & Gibson, 2016, pp. 35-36). Consequently, if health workers participate in this training, it will help them control their thoughts and attitudes, thereby treating patients of color equally as their white counterparts.
A 2017 study on improving communication between doctors and their patients by use of mindfulness mediation observed that having a smooth interaction between physicians and patients was the primary strategy of improving the healing process, improving the quality of life, and ensuring good emotional well-being for the physicians (Amutio-Kareaga, García-Campayo, Delgado, Hermosilla, & Martínez-Taboada, 2017, pp. 2).
