Art has been a lengthy part of our history. Artists from each period have expressed themselves according to what they are currently experiencing. Many elements influence an artist's assessment of their work, including the era's current problem or the era's current fashion trend. Artists were regarded as celebrities back then because their work was exceptional and difficult to replicate with the materials available. The material they use is sometimes canvas, walls, and rocks. With this rock, they shape magnificent creations that have been shown in a city to tell a tale for themselves. The advent of technology today has given rise to a plethora of new mediums for creating art.
One of the most renowned sculptures done in the Renaissance time is the sculptures made by the legendary artist Michelangelo (Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni), the "Pietà" or the pity. According to (Italian Renaissance, n.d.), the Pietà is a commissioned work given to Michelangelo given by a cardinal named Jean de Billheres. The commissioned sculpture is meant to be placed at a chapel at Old St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. To fully comprehend the significance of the sculpture's look and background, we must first investigate the impact of the Renaissance period on the people who lived at the time. It depicts Mary with his son's dead body on his lap; the sculpture depicts a mother caring for his son's dead body; Mary's expression is mournful. The sympathy comes not from Mary but from the audience who witnessed Mary carrying his slain son's body.
The renaissance era when Michelangelo lived is an age where new discoveries of the world were being discovered; the Renaissance is also known as the "rebirth" because Some of the greatest philosophers, authors, politicians, scientists, and artists in human history thrived during this era.
