Horatio comes to Prince Hamlet’s castle to attend the late king’s funeral. However, he finds that instead, he will be attending Claudius and Gertrude’s wedding. Still, Horatio intends to tell Hamlet about his encounter with the ghost of Hamlet’s father.
Question 2
Prince Hamlet has not been romantically involved with anyone. He has tried making romantic advances towards Ophelia without success. Ophelia’s brother and father have both advised her to spurn Hamlet’s advances. For instance, Laertes tells Ophelia that “The virtue of his will: but you must fear, His greatness weigh’d, his will is not his own.” By saying so, Laertes points to the fact that Prince Hamlet will always be royalty. Hence, most of his decisions will never be his own, but instead, those informed by his position as Prince.

When Lord Polonius accuses his daughter of speaking “like a green girl,” he is referring to her naivety and innocence. She does not understand the way of the world, hence her foolish remarks. Polonius wants his daughter to understand that she does not know anything. Thus, she should be listening to her father.
