The proposed regulation popcorn ban in dorms is centered on cases of smoke, fires and even accidents reported 911 cases, but ignores that these cases are few and most of the students recognize the importance of safety and protection. However, raising awareness about the danger linked to fires and smoke incidents is important, while outright ban would punish many for the mistakes of a few. Most of the students get their supply of popcorns from fellow students. The ban prohibiting the cooking of popcorn in all New York City college dorms is unnecessary.
Students ought to have options to choose what they want including the popcorns rather than the government making choices.
