It is also known as the Christmas or Boxing Day Tsunami because it happened on a Sunday, 26th December 2004. It was a strong earthquake that happened under the Indian Ocean along the coast of Sumatra Island in Indonesia. It had a magnitude of 9.0 and affected a stretch of about 900 miles. It was one of the worst Tsunamis that claimed the lives of almost 200,000 people.
