Introduction
Communications is one of the pillars of the society. The ability to pass information from one person to the next forms the baseline of any interaction. At the heart of the communication platforms is writing skills. Through writing one is able to express their feeling thoughts and ideas with clear and concise words. Writing skills are not just crucial for the academic reasons as they extend to the professional and social life. It is for this reason that I decided to take the writing course, to be able to take advantage of my skills in a myriad of ways.
Thesis statement: writing is crucial is not only crucial for students learning, but also for professionals and even within social circles.
As a student I take up many classes where I get to be assessed on my ability to express my knowledge that I have learnt over the course. This means that I have to write down what I understand in the course through answering questions in my assignments and even in the exams. To be able to express my understanding of the content or explain my answers clearly and concisely, I have to bear proper writing skills. This will help me to express my ideas in the papers for the lecturers to mark. Having taken the writing course, I have harnessed my writing abilities and I can easily communicate my ideas in the exams. This is the same case with the questions that require the students to communicate their views over a certain topic. As such, I have established that writing skills form part of my ability to achieve my academic goals. I am now able to boost my grades in other courses, given that I have better communications skills. Using the right words, proper sentence constructions and tenses, I can pass my ideas along. At the same time, I now have higher skills in manipulating words and sentences to express my arguments in the papers, pointing out clearly my thesis with supportive information and views. The basic mode of marking for most of the courses that I take, consider the students' ability to express their answers using proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and at the same time content. As such, my writing skills form the backbone of my academic life and the ability to achieve my goals.
