It is expected that more and more nursing jobs will become available out in the community, and less will be available in acute care hospitals. Write a speech of 500-700 words to educate nurses about how the practice of nursing is expected to grow and shift. Include the concepts of continuity or continuum of care, accountable care organizations (ACO), medical homes, and nurse-managed health clinics. While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines. These can be found in the APA Style Guide, which is located in the Student Success Center. This assignment uses a grading rubric. Instructors will be using the rubric to grade the assignment; therefore, students should review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the assignment criteria and expectations for successful completion of the assignment. 1. The health care in the USA is on the verge of getting a face lift and giving the patients the long awaited top notch services delivery. As such this is a call to the nurses, as are at the middle of the service delivery, in the health care sector. With the shift in the health care sector the nurses are bound be in high demand. The demand is definitely going to be tied to the skill levels and not otherwise. For those nurses who commit themselves to furthering their studies, it is going much easier for them to offer their services. This is because most of the policies regarding the level of education that the nurses have is bound to change once the recommendations by the Institute Of Medicine are implemented. The recommendations have been received with mixed feelings, with most of the nurses taking it as a means to get rid of the associate degrees. This is not the case, as these changes in the education backgrounds of the nurses is to be effected in light of improving the health care services with close reference to the new advancements in technology and medical conditions in the population. For there be health care continuum, the nurses will have to be ready to learn new concepts throughout their career lifespan. This reflects on the services that the nurse of their patients, as most of the time they are required to take care of the patients for a long time, sometimes a lifetime (Quan, 2011).
With these kinds of developments, it is suspected that most of the acute health care systems are going to lose out nurses to the community levels. It is thus important that the nurses and other medical practitioners should come together and form medical teams. Through the teams they can come up with other avenues to bridge the gap that may come up. Such interventions may include Accountable Care Organizations, where the nurses come together and offer professional health care services on a voluntary basis. ...
