Philosophical ethical theory 
Aristotle’s virtue ethics emphasizes understanding virtues and focusing on a moral life where they act right. Additionally, Aristotle and other philosophers emphasize virtuous actions, and being good is possible through the practice of virtues. The concept of virtue mainly reflects conformity to high moral excellence standards. In philosophy, there are different explanations of what is virtue, and one approach is to consider virtue as a quality that allows people to play their social role. Another approach is individual progress towards achieving full potential and achieving earthly and heavenly success.
Virtue ethics has its roots in Aristotle’s approach and focuses on an individual’s moral character, actions, decisions, and intentions based on certain qualities. An individual could achieve happiness and live good by being virtuous. Aristotle and Plato singled out ethical virtues such as justice, temperament, and courage that are essential to living a good life. Socrates has different propositions and identified virtue with knowledge, where people cannot do the right thing if they lack knowledge. Based on this, what makes an individual virtuous knows true virtue. Plato expounds on Socrates’ ideas and believes a good life is a virtuous life, where people achieve harmony.
In my understanding, virtue is acting according to the ability to reason morally, seek truth, and live a virtuous life. As I know myself, virtues are acquired and are a quality that requires one to have the will to do good. People differentiate between good and evil based on traditional virtues, and morals influence my perception of virtues. However, I do not believe that one must get knowledge to live a virtuous life. But instead, people make good choices to live by their values and virtues. One way of evaluating whether an action is morally good is by considering virtues and values that influence decisions and actions. An individual must have the will to do good and not simply appear virtuous because of societal pressure. There are moral and ethical considerations in decision-making and living life.
