Smoking among Young People
Psychosocial factors, social cognition, and mental health affect smoking addiction among young people significantly. Psychosocial factors can be described from how social elements interact with the thoughts and beliefs of individuals (Behavioral Diversity in Health Education, 2021). For example, a young man is suffering from smoking addiction. He spends most of his time with many peer friends who engage in group smoking every day after they are done with classes. His mother has tried helping him out of the problem, but he is unable to because every time he tries to disengage himself from the group, the boys insult him and frame him as a weakling. The peer pressure contributes to his inability to stop smoking which might lead to more severe symptoms.
