Over the years, policymakers who happen to be our elected officials have often come up with policies and laws with pure intent of worsening the fiscal situation in our country. This is true because of the fact that taxpayers’ money has consistently been put into imprudent use thereby causing unnecessary rise in the government debt. For instance, the United States Federal Government has wasted a bountiful amount of dollars opening unnecessary gas stations in Afghanistan. These dollars would rather be spent wisely within the United States in order to help in other useful sectors to improve the economy. Relying on at least four types of senses, this essay explicate just how unwisely, taxpayers’ money is spent by our elected officials such as the aforementioned example.
Indeed, our elected officials often act like they have never ‘tasted’ the feeling of paying taxes to the government hoping the money to be put into useful activities only to be wasted on the most bizarre ventures that continue to baffle taxpayers. One such bizarre ways that elected officials is investing millions of money to fund a weight-loss intervention program on truckers only to leave millions of helpless taxpayers wondering how such a program benefits them. It should be noted that boosting a healthy lifestyle among citizens is undoubtedly a good venture but this burden should not be yoked on unsuspecting taxpayers. The federal government should consider directing such investments into useful programs that seek to help common citizens rather than on wasteful programs.
