Essay Instructions:

You will read and respond to the drafts of two group members, each draft need to write one-page feedback.
--- Write your comments and suggestions on your peers’ draft
Your responses to your peer’s drafts should offer positive feedback, helpful or
constructive criticism and/or suggestions for improvements.(WHY did you like their work? Was it well organized? Did it have good analysis of examples? Be SPECIFIC about why you liked a draft, or what you thought was weak about it.) Therefore, there is one requirement for the peer-review: offer (a minimum of) one (1) positive comment, one (1) constructive criticism, and one (1) “final thought” that may suggest ways of going forward, ideas the writer may not have thought of, scenes too look at, module sections to read, etc. Each of these comments should be (a minimum of) one page. Some other suggestions for peer-review (these are suggestions, not requirements)
--- Ask questions about sentences or ideas you do not fully understand.
--- Suggest quotations or passages from the text or a module that might help the writer support a point. --- Tell the person specifically what you like best about the draft.
--- If you disagree with a point the writer makes, tell her or him in a respectful manner and say what your alternative view is.
--- It is not your job to proof-read the writer’s draft, so do not spend a lot of time correcting grammar or punctuation. However, if you can think of a way to improve upon word choice, sentence, or organization as a whole, you may make suggestions.
--- Offer the kind of criticism/responses/advice you would like to receive yourself. A major point of peer-review is to join the conversation the writer has begun in the essay. Show your writers that you are interested and engaged by their ideas – doing so cannot be anything but helpful.

Silk Spectre I is a superheroine in Watchmen, but she is also objectified and like other female superhero figures she was created by a man. In Marjane Satrapi’s Persepolis, the writer narrates a women’s narrative experience from an Iranian perspective and highlights cross-cultural expectations, where the female perspective is often ignored and downplayed.
While Rivero highlights that visual representation of female characters limited, focusing on the visual character appearance would have strengthened the ideas explored. The visual rhetoric especially in the Watchmen would provide insights on how female characters are treated and depicted for their choices. There is greater scrutiny on what the female characters wear and behave and the readers engage with the narrative they are more likely to understand the context of the two stories. Assessing the changes among the female characters linked to relationships and actions would provide more details on the writers’ perspectives about how the representation of female characters is reinforced.
Understanding how he male characters relate with the male characters may provide clues on the creators and writers’ ideas about female empowerment. Some female characters develop independently, but some require the involvement of the male characters to show they are empowered. The female characters in the two texts are not...
