Descartes and Lucretius
Rene Descartes in his work, meditation on the first philosophy sought to understand truths about the things he believed in and bases his work on metaphysical theory. Lucretius in ‘De Rerum Natura’ where he explores the nature of things bases his work on atomism and existence happening by chance. Descartes and Lucretius agree that nothing can form out of nothing but differ in the fact that the latter argues that existence is dependent on emptiness and matter and therefore God does not exist.
