Dealing with Disappointment in an Important Event

A Disappointment I Had
I was really looking forward to that holiday. I work overseas. Every year we were given one month to have a holiday. That month finally came. It was Christmas Season. I would finally be able to go back home, stay with my family and have fun together. We already planned the trips will make to visit relatives and friends from around the country. I was also already salivating thinking of the home-cooked dishes I would feast on. I can already feel sea breeze touching my skin as I would walk along the shores of a white beach. Yet the perfect holiday I had imagined turned out to be a disappointment right from the start.
On the day of the trip, I was at first very excited. Who would not be? All holidays are really a rare gift to be enjoyed by an overworked employee. I planned months ahead and prepared myself physically and emotionally. In my excitement, I went to the airport super early. Although it was an advantage, I had to wait long before the first ticket receiving counter opened for my flight. Take note that It was around 3 o’clock in the afternoon and my flight was at 7 o’clock in the evening. The ticket counter opens 4’o clock that afternoon. An hour’s wait seems longer than the usual for an idle and excited passenger. The modern world has taught us to pass time using our mobile phones but for the fear of travelling with an empty battery, I resisted the urge to use it. I finished reading all the signs around the airport lobby yet the ticket counter still did not open. Although I was early, there were others earlier than me. The line from the counter was already quite long when I arrived. When the counter finally opened, I still have to wait in line for my turn to arrive. Small chit-chats with my fellow passengers have at least released the boredom of the long wait. It was peak season. It was also my first time using the home country’s airline. My Boss, says it would be cheaper, better, and more comfortable to use since it’s from back home so, I agreed. Little did I know the huge disappointment it would give me that day.
