Analysis of Yiyun's readings and the whole video illustrates the distinctive culture of Chinese immigrants in America and deep-seated issues. The Chinese moved to the U.S for various reasons. One of the outstanding themes that pervade the American-Chinese community is a cultural aspect. Culture has continued to act as a clue that secures linkages between the chines in America and those in homeland China. The literature works, for example, the fictional works by Yiyun, are lenses through which we can examine the cultural and social connections that exist between America and the Asian community. This article is my reflective response to Yiyun’s literature art.
I find that the immigration of the Asian community to America is laced with a diversity of undertones. Some may have migrated in search of better lives, as an exploration of new lands or just to escape from live hostilities. The poisoning history and subsequent death, as presented by Yiyun, depicts adversities of the past and still have ripple effects up to now. The poisoning incident in Yiyun’s fictional novel occurred in Beijing and some three survivors moved to the U.S; this may be inferred...
