Writing research papers is necessary when undertaking a graduate degree. It is thus important for one to be familiar with research skills. In carrying out research, one has to understand plagiarism, APA referencing, and the significance of setting goals and listing tasks for completion.
APA is one of the styles used for citing sources by other authors (Wong, 2011). The style is used for research particularly in social sciences. One has to understand how to cite papers using the style. This involves both in-text citation and the reference list at the end of the paper. An example of an in-text citation is Wong (2011).
Plagiarism is one of the important aspects of research that a student has to understand and learn how to avoid. According to Wong (2011), plagiarism is the use of ideas of other people and presenting them as one’s own. This is intellectual theft as well as a serious academic offense (Wong, 2011). Therefore, I plan to avoid plagiarism by citing all information I use from other sources, just like I have done in this paragraph.
Setting goals is critical for a graduate degree tasks. One has to set goals in regards to when he or she expects to complete a task.
