An ecosystem is developed by different elements that are linked by a complex flow of matter and energy. The constituents of an ecosystem include both biotic and abiotic components. The energy from the sun forms the basis of developing an ecosystem, where energy is transferred from producers to other levels of the food chain. The African continent has a variety of ecosystems that present diversity in the abiotic and biotic components found in different parts of the continent. This paper intends to identify and discuss the characteristics of some of these ecosystems experienced on the African continent.
