Behavior modification is a widely used method to shape the behavior of people. Martin and Pear (2007) describe seven characteristics of behavior modification, which include problem identification in terms of measurable behavior, improvement of functioning, methods and rationale, application and techniques, learning and behavior theory-related techniques, scientific demonstrations, and accountability. These characteristics make up the foundation of traditional and modern behavior modification techniques, as understood by different behaviorisms and approaches.
