Body Image
Body image is how people, especially women, perceive their physical appearance and the resultant feelings and thoughts from that discernment. American women often doubt their body image because they think they lack a positive perception of themselves, implying that they do not feel comfortable in their bodies and overall physical appearance. They base their body image on physical appearance. The women’s obsession with body image results from media, which shows edited pictures of beautiful women, making American women try to obtain an ideal body image that does not exist (OWH., 2019). Eventually, these women start to develop eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia. The issue of negative body image will be overcome if the media will stop showing edited images of women.
