In their article, del Valle and Levenson (2021) report that the recent extradition approval by a New York court will see Harvey Weinstein in Los Angeles for sexual assault charges. Since 2017, many women have come out to accuse Weinstein of sexual assault. Among these are several women living in Los Angeles, who between 2004 and 2013, suffered under Weinstein’s predatory behavior (del Valle & Levenson, 2021).
Currently, Weinstein is serving a 23-year jail sentence for sexual assault (del Valle & Levenson, 2021). However, this sentence only relates to charges heard in New York. The accused also stands to answer to similar charges filed against him in Los Angeles. Hence, the New York court has approved his extradition to Los Angeles.
