Citizen Outsider: Children of North Africa Immigrants in France
The Citizen Outsider is a book written by Jean Beaman's ethnographic research in the year 2008-2009 for a while doing his PhD. In the dissertation, he interviewed 45 descendants of Maghrebin immigrants from North African countries to live in France. They were living in the Parisian metropolitan area, and that made is for her to come up with the book analyzing how they schooled and in the process the challenges they faced. The author spent a lot of time capturing views of the interviewee from different settings. The interview is done in schools, social gatherings, and family settings. He was able to come up with a book with detailed and analyzed information concerning the Immigrants with North African origin in France. The paper includes the challenges the descendants of Maghrebin faced as the advanced and lived in France.
Most of the immigrants who went to live and work in France is due to poor economic conditions of their countries, political uncertainty, etc. These factors were the main, and they forced people to leave their countries and seek new and green pastures. While living abroad, they were able to get jobs quickly without straining. In a result, they got a better education for their kids and better lives in a safe environment. It meant a lot to them and to the families who wanted a better and different experience for their kids and generations to come. Most of the immigrants migrated in the post-colonial period in the 1960s when many countries were gaining independence from their colonial masters. There resulted in a lot of political tensions in countries like in Algeria.
