8-1 Reflection Discussion: The Bigger Picture
Discuss how your thoughts about literature and/or the writing process have changed based on the ideas presented in this course.
In doing so, be sure to address each of the following:
Consider the relationship between literature and cultural identity, and themes and literary elements.
Identify one text that inspired you in regard to culture and identity.
What do you think about the idea of literature and other art forms/genres informing each other (e.g., dystopian literature and dystopian movies, or art and poets writing about the art, or poems and short stories)? Can you think of an example of this?
Identify one discussion you had with a peer that helped you during the development of your essay or that impacted your thoughts about cultural identity in relation to literature.
In your response posts, discuss whether you found the literature your peers identified to have the same impact on your views of cultural identity in relation to literature. Expand on your response by making a connection to your own findings while reflecting on the literature presented in this course.

The Big Picture
It is interesting to note that literature means written texts that contain an artistic value such as literary genres of poems, fiction, and drama among others. Also, one needs the idea of literature for him or her to explain and reflect on specific culture in a way that reflects the big picture. By considering the relationship between literature and culture, literature is used often used to illustrate different cultural phenomena. For example, a person can learn social, linguistic and other cultural implementations in literature.
One text that has inspired me in this course involves the utopian and the dystopian fiction which is genres of literature focusing on social and political groupings. For example, the utopian fiction which displays a setting that matches the author’s attitudes has always been attractive and interesting.
