Solar power is one of the fastest growing sources of energy among the renewable options. This is a method that involves the use of photovoltaic cells on panels that convert sunlight into electricity that can then be distributed on the national grid. There are quite a number of advantages that are associated with the solar power as an energy source; other than the cost of establishing the solar power stations, the operational costs are quite low compared to most other sources. It is also important to note that the sources do not cause pollution; they can also be used in remote areas. It is one of the renewable sources which is quite promising, relative to the depletion of the oil reserves. However, there are some fundamental disadvantages associated with the source, especially given that it can only be used during the daytime, they do not match the output from conventional sources and in places where the climate is unreliable, the sources are not efficient. It also requires large tracts of land to be efficient.
