Race and Gender Importance in the United States' Labor Market and Income

Essay Instructions:

Using a substantive paragraph of about 200 words for each question, explain how you know the following statements are each FALSE. Imagine you are arguing against someone who believes one of these statements to be true. Some powerful facts would be what you would want to use in your argument.
You must use information/facts from this course rather than looking for new material on the internet. Please indicate the source of your facts – a casual citation is OK as long as it is complete enough for us to locate the source of your information (for example, TEXT, p. 124; or Stiglitz article, week 8; or Eaton video, week 12). No quotations – this is not what I want here. I want you to use your own words to make the argument. Do not “paraphrase.” Instead, summarize.
There are many reasons some statements are false and therefore I do not expect all answers to be the same. Obviously, it’s a take-home exam so you can talk to others. But I expect your exam to be your own work and hence if two students cite precisely the same facts in answers, I am not going to be positively impressed. Again, use your own words. If you copy or “only lightly rewrite” material from the internet, the course, or from elsewhere, this will be considered a violation of academic integrity.
The Statements:
Race and gender were important in the past but are no longer important in the United States for outcomes in the labor market, income, or other matters related to work. (30 points)
Social class is simply determined by income in the United States today and not much else. (30 points)
Employment law now gives workers so many protections from unfair treatment or discharge that Americans have the same rights at work that they do elsewhere. (30 points)

Race and gender were important in the past but are no longer important in the United States for outcomes in the labor market, income, or other matters related to work. It is evident that the above-mentioned statement is absolutely false. Just like it was in the past, race and gender are still very vital and instrumental aspects for the outcomes in the labor market, income, and other matters related to work. It is apparent that race controls most of the job opportunities that are found in many parts of the United States. The whites are often given priority for some job vacancies as compared to the colored people. The white race is mostly considered a superior race in almost all parts of the United States. Due to the superiority issue, the whites end up securing better jobs in the market compared to the colored people. This happens despite them either having the same qualifications or even the colored race having or being qualified than the whites. The same gaps are also evident when it comes to gender. The female gender is always considered as a weak gender thus ending up securing jobs that are lowly paying in the market. This is something that was there in the past and its elements are still being experienced in the labor market even today. There are some jobs opportunities where men are given a priority as compared to women.
Social class is simply determined by the income in the United States today and not much else. This is a perception that was there in the past in al...
