Physical Security
Physical security protects buildings and equipment from vandalism, artificial catastrophes, natural disasters, and accidental damage from electrical surges and high temperatures. Physical security requires several other activities such as proper emergency preparedness, proper climate observation, and proper safety from intruders. Physical security is an essential component of the security maintenance strategy and elemental to the entire exertions towards security. Physical security implement policy issues to a building site to minimize the risks of the property from theft and destruction. For instance, a building should have emergency procedures, governing regulations, power supply, and relationships with outside contractors to ensure lasting safety.
Physical security continues to be vulnerable with the development of new technology. Physical security is experiencing more challenges than the previous decades as criminals have more sensitive devices. For example, USB drives, smartphones, and laptops enable unauthorized persons to access data easily and smoothly without being caught. The company should invent security encouraged by the payment card industry (PCI) and information organization for standardization (IOS) in the workplace to increase security measures. Companies and organizations use cardholders to have a secured environment in the PCI system. On the other hand, ISO uses code of information security introduced to cover a large range of security issues.
Building Security
Building security is an emerging issue that has become significant with construction's increasing size and complexities. The building security aims to monitor and control the mechanical installations and electrical protections. Building security enhances fire protection and emergency communication for all buildings. Security represents different things, including having a stable income, consistent housing, and food supply, which is part of a predictable life that avoids crime and psychological security. Building security includes various primary elements such as planning programs, determining whether to outsource security, mobility, and access control. Security systems should enhance effective control of people and properties from damage.
Tall buildings and major complexes require the most important fire-safety system adding to the fire protection and special monitoring system. The new technology integrates the security arrangements in monitoring and controlling the heat, ventilation system, and other security aspects, particularly electronic systems. Current security measures incorporated in building security include heating and temperature conditioning. The equipment should suit the internal and external conditions. A good security system should have a secure data collection plan that maintains the resource of the building. The disadvantage of building security is that it does not depend on the complexity of major buildings but also the crime rate, building design, and nature of the surrounding area.
