Texas Republican Party
One of the major political parties in Texas, which recently passed several political priorities. Two issues that the party has stances on include; Abolition of abortion and support for constitutional carry. The party's goal regarding abolishing abortion is to ensure that all preborn babies from the time of fertilization have the right to life and protection by the law ("Legislative priorities," 2021). This policy is to be among the most restrictive in the state. The policy majorly aims to protect life, liberty, and happiness by everyone, including preborn babies. The other issue is constitutional carry which advocates for citizens to carry guns without a permit. The policy aims at ensuring that citizens are armed since criminals never get a license to carry guns.
Democratic Party
This party has many issues that they have stances on, but the two would be Cannabis legalization and equality and freedom for all. With Cannabis, the party aims at legalizing it to improve public safety, reduce mass imprisonment and boost the economy, increase public health and generate revenue for the budget ("Our plans," n.d.). Through equality and freedom for all, the party ensures equal opportunities for all regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, and religious beliefs—also the freedom to exercise civil and human rights.
Libertarian Party
The two major issues that the party has a strong belief in are Taxation and the rights of individuals, children, and families. The party believes that citizens have the rights to the fruits of their labor and that Taxation is a forceful way to take the fruits of labor from citizens ("Libertarian party of Texas," n.d.). With the issue of rights and freedom for all, the party aims at preserving the rights embodied in the First Amendment of the constitution. With a special focus on the government not to interfere with individual matters, religion, and speech.
