On June 10, 2021, university students from Indiana University's Bloomington campus, together with some members of the general public, gathered outside the Sample Gates to protest the mandatory vaccine directive. According to WTHR (2021), students, parents, and even children gathered outside the gates of the university campus with placards bearing different messages to denounce the vaccine mandate imposed by Indiana University. The mandate requires that every student, faculty member, and other staff get the COVID vaccine before the new semester. Aside from holding posters with messages to the school administration, the protesters also held rallies, with some members gave speeches with the rest shouting "stop the mandate" repeatedly (WTHR, 2021). The protest was generally peaceful, with no sign of violence.
