The justice system has long been incubated with several challenges along numerous improvements under different time frames. The past, present and future trends of the justice have seeing development of institutions to efficient and reliable state for the good of the community. Community-based corrections have become a necessity to adequately execute justice to both offenders and the offended. This approach emerges at the time when our curiosity on the need of establishing a long-lasting and reliable judicial system is at all-time high (Alarid, L. F., & Del, 2011).
Community corrections are developed to reduce the infiltration of the criminals in the correctional options. In the past times, sanctions were rarely restricted, hence overcrowding in the limited jails and prison. Few restrictions inducted were options applied in lieu of prison sanctions. Offenders from England and the rest of Europe would be granted sanctuary even without confessing to their felony in quest for abjuration. Later, specific policies were applied to deal with this form of leniency. For example, during 15th century, offenders who were seeking sanctuary would be reprimanded around 40days, or even released without the expiration of that period. According to Rosenheim (2002), recognizance was used was normally applied to offender who committed small offences.
