Kanban is a visual system that manages work, while scrum is an agile process that helps to deliver the business value in the shortest time. Scrum emphasizes on planning because it begins with sprint planning and ends up with sprint retrospective. In contrast, kanban is less rigid, which implies that it is open to frequent changes. Furthermore, while using scrum, a set of work must be completed and ready for review because deliverables are determined by sprints (Silva et al., 2017). However, processes and products in kanban are delivered continuously as long as they are needed. Therefore, the review process and testing in kanban are undertaken simultaneously.
Scrum works on a self-organizing team principle and deals with the fact that the conditions are either likely to change rapidly or they are unknown during the start of a project.
