Ever since I was a child, the processes and importance of the energy industry have intrigued me. When I was younger, I remember watching my father climb the technology ladder and see more and more success in this industry. He started as a cable assembler and then graduated from college. Forty years later, he is now an IT senior in the industry, and nothing inspires me more to step into the same field as his and live my journey of success.
For years, I have been wondering about the change I can make in the energy industry and leave my mark. After much thought, I realized that energy transition is primarily accelerating nowadays because of decentralization. The traditional utility model is not sufficient to support that. The monopolists cannot seem to remain in power of the market when we consider the future. Therefore, I would move the industry from the traditional utility model to a modern business model.
Generally, monopolist plants generate energy and distribute it from large powerhouses to the end-user (Fukuizumi, 2020). My idea of a change is to ensure the end-user ensures their energy portfolio, including batteries, homes, factories, renewables, and fuel cells. When the demand peaks, plants generate more energy to meet demands if we consider the older model. When we think about the decentralized model, demand response is the primary thing. It is used to manage grid stability and also used to control distribution.
