Triangle Fire Effect
The triangle fire took place on 25th march of the year 1911 in a Shirtwaist Factory, killing an estimated 146 persons (Cornell University, 2017). In the factory, there worked young women some of them who were just teenagers. They worked long hours and six days in a week earning meagre pay in the New York factory, which dealt with shirtwaists and high necked cotton blouses. The factory owners, Isaac Harris and Max Blanck, used to lock the doors to ensure that none of the workers would steal from the factory. At the end of the day the women and some men would have to pass through the single door where they would be checked for any stole items by the floor manager standing at the door. The fire produced significant changes and brought about some subtle movement traction in the progressive era. This is especially with reference to the right of the women and the work environment. Given the significant chances the fire brought during the progressive era, it is considered the fire that changed America (Cornell University, 2017).

This was considered one the most disastrous events in the nation until the 9/11 incident took place. The factory was poorly ventilated, there were cluttered flammable cloths, staircases were routinely locked to prevent the workers from taking break or stealing any of the merchandise (Cornell University, 2017). These were established to make sure that the workers health safety and welfare were protected. Before the development of the codes, building did not have to put in place exits and fire escapes that were strictly monitored (Cornell University, 2017).
