The number of Americans who are sixty-five years and older has increased and is projected to continue increasing in the near future. Therefore, sociologist should aging because it would aid them in practice. The term aging could be elucidated as a process of generalized, intrinsic, and progressive deterioration occurring over time. As mentioned earlier, understanding the aging is important as it could help individuals control their rate of aging. This owes to the fact that the biology of aging dictates that certain lifestyles could accelerate or decelerate aging. This paper reviews important lessons learnt in the entire course.
To begin with, social support is an important predictor of living longer and healthy lives. For instance, friends, family members, and peers should support aging members of the society, to make their lives interesting and healthy. Additionally, people should age intelligently by preparing for old age. This owes to the truth that aging intelligently could make an individual appear ten or even twenty years younger than his/her actual age. Critical to the discussion is the fact that people should strive to access age based care because it improves the status of their health. This is because age based care would enable them to access doctors who have specialized in providing services to certain age groups, which improves the quality of services recieved.
