Slavery in Colonial America

For this discussion, review your readings for Unit 4. Afterward, prepare a statement based on your readings and unit sources answering the following question: Why did the British North American colonies shift from primarily European indentured servitude to enslaved African labor?
To do this, adopt the role of ONE of the following individuals and explain who that person was and how that person viewed the institution of slavery.
Choose ONE:
-An enslaved person (male or female) working on a tobacco plantation in Richmond, Virginia
-An enslaved person (male or female) working as a sailmaker on the port of Boston, Massachusetts
-An enslaved person (male or female) working as a domestic in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
-A British Merchant in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
-A tobacco plantation owner in Richmond, Virginia
-A small farmer in Oyster Bay, New York
Try to put yourself in the shoes of someone in the past. Think about what their life was like, what their behavior and outlook might be. Try to justify your response by describing that life and outlook.
You must complete the assignment in a minimum of 2 paragraphs and a maximum of 3 paragraphs.
