This week we will review several instances in American athletic history where college students protested in response to discriminatory practices. Do you believe peaceful public protests are an effective way to initiate dialogue on contentious issues? Have you ever taken part in a protest? If so, did participating help you to feel "heard"? If you have not taken part in a protest, can you think of an issue that would be important enough for you to consider protesting – either to change what is happening now, or to keep something from being changed or taken away?
You must cite at least one reference per initial post. Opinions must be supported with citations. References for discussion board posts do not have to be academic. You may cite course lectures, readings, videos, or outside sources.
