It is now a scientific fact that water is life. Water supports every element of life and constitutes the most significant percentage of any living organism's body. This is to say that whenever there is water, then there has to be life therein. Such a notion is taken a notch higher when thinking about outer space. Like the Earth, there are several other planets and celestial bodies in the vastness of space. The outer space is so vast, and given that the solar system has its planets revolving around the sun, there are several other such 'solar systems' too. There has been a lot of water found in several celestial bodies, such as planets and their moons. Given the earlier notion that where there is water, there has to be life; therefore, with each discovery of water comes the question of whether human beings are alone in the universe.
There is an increasing curiosity among people as to whether these other planets also have life, similar to Earth. After all, water makes it easy for life to spring up spontaneously. While people have continued speculating over such, scientists, such as Louis Pasteur have also come up with their arguments. He, however, contended that life was not a product of spontaneous generation and regeneration but rather a product of another life. According to his scientific findings, life came from another life. Whether life began spontaneously or not is not a big issue, there is only one problem; there is no other place in the universe apart from the Earth where both theories can be proved or disapproved. It, therefore, leaves the doors wide open for debate to continue raging on as to the whole mystery surrounding the origins of life and its possibility on other planets.
The Earth in itself offers an interesting case study. It presently offers optimum physical conditions for life not only to regenerate but thrive. It can be used to prove that life began due to previous life since evolution clearly shows that there were earlier versions of life before the present.
