1.Summarize a situation that required U.S. diplomatic efforts during the president's time in office.
2.Explicate the diplomatic doctrine the president followed, with reference to specific actions or events that occurred.
3.Describe the effects of these diplomatic efforts for the U.S. and other countries.
4.Assess, in conclusion, the advantages and disadvantages of the particular doctrine that was followed.
5.Cite at least four (4) reputable sources in addition to the textbook, not including Wikipedia, encyclopedias, or dictionaries.

President Jimmy Carter, the thirty ninth president of the United States has been hailed as the most peaceful president of all time due to his rather peaceful diplomatic approach. President Carter diplomatic action in the negotiation of peace between Egypt and Israel, Palestinian autonomy talks and Camp David process made him a master diplomat. The following paragraphs examine situations that required the president's diplomatic action, the nature of diplomatic action taken by the president and advantages and disadvantages of Jimmy Carter's doctrine as well as its effect on the United States. The paper argues Camp David negotiation was the hallmark of President Jimmy Carter's diplomatic doctrine.
Israel and Egyptian war
In 1947, the united nation voted and partitioned the Great Britain's Palestine mandate and established a Jewish state, an Arab state and an independence of Jerusalem. The mandate ended in 1947 and Israel proclaimed independence sparking the first wave of Arab-Israel war. During the patrician no separate state was established. Egypt took control of Gaza strip along the Mediterranean Sea, and Jordan assumed sovereignty over territory between the eastern border and Jordan River. These territories included east of Jerusalem. A six days war in 1967 saw Israel occupy the contested territories as well as a patch of Syrian land on the northern border with Israel known as Golan Heights, and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula. In 1967, Israeli won the war against Egypt. Egyptian president Anwar el-Sadat desperately needed peace and stability, but following Israeli victory, their terms for peace would not be favorable to Egypt, thus Sadat decided to target Israel again (Quandt, 2016). The plan was to force Israel to see that peace and stability in the region was necessary. To position itself, Egypt expelled soviet advisers and opened its doors to Washington in preparation for future wars.
In 1973, Egypt joined hand with Syria and attacked Israel during the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur. The attack caught Israel by surprise and it took the support of the United States arm lift, and over one week to stop the Arab advances. Immediately after his election, President Jimmy Carter committed to establishing a comprehensive Middle East peace according to UN resolution 242 (Glad, 2009).  The accord demanded that Israel return back portions of territories it had occupied and that the Arab nation recognizes and establishes peace with Israel. It was also to offer a just settlement of Palestinian refugees displaced when Israel was established and the 1967 war. Impressed by Egyptian president's enthusiasm about a stronger relationship with United States and peace with Israel, Jimmy Carter met with leaders from Middle East in an attempt to establish peace (Kostiner, 2009). Jimmy Carter invited both president Sadat and prime minister begin to a summit meeting in Jimmy Carter's private cabins in Camp David Maryland. In the summit, a peace deal was negotiated which detailed Israel evacuation of Sinai Peninsula and a peace accord that would ensure peace in the region.
