The historical event chosen for the analysis is "the apartheid in South Africa". It involves segregation and other discriminative actions of the dominant political powers against non-white Africans lasting from 1948 (with antecedents rooted in Land Act 1913) until the last decade of 20th century. The significance of the event lies in how disadvantaged and discriminated minorities in any society can draw passion from the lessons attached to the event.
Two secondary sources that I plan to use in my study are (i) Nattrass (1991) and (ii) Amoateng and Heaton (2007). First sources mainly deal with the coverage of debates surrounding apartheid from an economic perspective. The second source is focused on demographic and socioeconomic changes in African families since the end of apartheid. Hence, both sources have an economic dimension in common. However, the first source is more focused on the consequences of apartheid, while the second one is skewed towards the post-apartheid scenario. I had an idea to give broad coverage to the event while researching secondary sources.
