Affirmative action refers to positive steps taken to promote the representation of women and other minorities in previously excluded sectors such as education and employment. It champions equal opportunities for folks despite their gender, race, and disabilities (Fullinwider, 2018). Affirmative actions seek to eradicate visible and invisible barriers, leveling the employment field and ensuring each individual has equal opportunities. However, affirmative actions do not guarantee identical results among folks. Instead, they progress with the notion that if equal opportunities are available to everybody, minority groups facing discrimination would have fair representation in the workforce and learning institutions.
