Technology has had a major on public health. The rise in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and health information exchange has led to an increase in the amount of data being electronically processed and transmitted from healthcare providers to public health organizations (Magnuson & Fu 2013, p. 72). This shift has seen an increase in the potential sources of data and the subsequent change from hunter-gatherer to data agrarian methods of data gathering. Which implies that the public health centers will benefit from secondary data obtained for other clinical purposes.
