The Influence of the IOM Report on Nursing Practice
Summary
A large portion of health care providers is composed of nurses. It means that positive changes in the profession significantly impact the overall health care system in the United States of America. The health care system aims to transform into patient-centered and evidence-based practice to promote affordability, accessibility, and high-quality health care skills and services. It enables advancement in the nursing profession through continuous education, acquisition of additional skills, multidisciplinary involvement, growth of nursing regulations and health policies, and the development of leadership programs. There is evident focus on nursing education and leadership training because the IOM report strives to create a progressive yet sustainable movement for the nursing profession that will lead the changes in the health care system.
