About Banner Healthcare
Banner Health is a non-profit offering healthcare network in the U.S. It was established in 1999 when the Samaritan Health System and Lutheran Health Systems merged to form what is currently known as Banner Health. The network is headquartered in Phoenix Arizona. Banner Health is among the largest employers in Arizona, with more than 50,000 employees (Banner Health, 2019). It has 29 hospitals and other related entities and services in Arizona and six other states. The organization exists to make a difference in the lives of patients by offering them exceptional care. Patients can receive specialized care in cancer, heart, rehabilitation and pediatric care among others. Banner Health serves more than 300,000 clients annually, a number that is expected to increase in the future (Banner Health, 2019). The organization is committed to strengthening patient care by using innovating technologies, improvement of patient outcomes, training of workforce, and expansion of facilities to cater to the needs of the community. As a non-profit organization, Banner Health became one of the best healthcare providers due to the high quality of its services. Peter S Fine is the president and CEO of the organization for the last 19 years.
Overall Readiness
The healthcare needs of the U.S. increasing with the increase in population (Tkatch et al., 2016). Healthcare organizations in the country should be prepared to deal with diverse healthcare needs. Banner Health has diversified its operations to meet better the needs of the population where it operates. The need for more healthcare facilities in the U.S. has prompted the organization to continue opening more hospitals and related healthcare facilities in various states. The increase in the number of facilities in the various states is meant to meet the increasing demand for healthcare services.
Additionally, Banner Health has embraced the use of technology. The organization recognizes that modern technology is critical in facilitating patient care. The use of current technology has enabled Banner Health to create a reputation as an organization with high-quality healthcare services. The use of technology has also facilitated the sharing of information. Access to information empowers patients to identify the kind of healthcare services they require. Furthermore, Banner Health is involved in the research. The organization conducts high-quality clinical trials and other medical research. Remaining up to date with the required healthcare standards requires extensive research (Lavin, Harper & Barr, 2015). Banner Health seeks to tackle healthcare challenges in the country through investing in research to come up with treatments and prevention methods. It has been working towards tackling some diseases like cancer, Alzheimer’s and arthritis among others. Through a collaboration with the University of Arizona Health Sciences, Banner Health aims to enroll more than 1 million participants who can assist in improving prevention and treatment for diseases based on lifestyle and environmental factors.
