Introduction
In today's world, personal, family-based, community-based healthcare and overall environmental health are important issues and major economic drivers. The state of people's healthcare and the general environmental health both have a substantial impact on their productivity (McElroy, 2011). Healthy people can become economically productive, associate with others, and uphold societal, religious, governmental, and cultural ideals. However, because of the sector's enormous contribution to global well-being, it faces significant problems originating from the diverse perspectives and requirements of critical stakeholders. Such capabilities are indicative of an optimally operating society, which is the ideal situation for all key players on matters pertaining to health. Members of the public, healthcare professionals, religious and cultural entities, medical insurance organizations, and the government are all stakeholders in the healthcare sector. This paper will look at the roles that the essential stakeholders in the sector perform and also the areas of conflict that exist. It will also look at how people perceive and react to conflicts in the same sector. Patients, caregivers, medical insurers, drug manufacturers, and the government are all key players within the healthcare delivery system.
Stakeholder’s Competing Views Regarding Healthcare Administration
Some of the identified key stakeholders, such as the pharmaceutical industry and the health insurance firms, include both private and publicly owned corporations. Some of such corporations are even listed on the stock exchange. Their core responsibilities are maximizing the wealth bases of the stakeholders. Also, they have the goal of ensuring that the corporations are profitable enough. However, the health insurance provisions of such corporations are meant to benefit the clients, who are the patients. Arguably, patients would expect prompt and quality services for the premiums they pay to such firms periodically.
When the requirements of some stakeholders conflict with the expectations of others, stakeholder conflicts result. These conflicts might be socially, politically, or even economically related. The conflicts are also likely to stem from a lack of or unequal access to various resources. The healthcare industry is characterized by a variety of stakeholders. Various players in the sector have differing and sometimes competing views, which can lead to severe conflicts that will most likely affect healthcare delivery. Policymakers, members of various communities, caregivers within the field of healthcare, the varied religions, and the pharmaceutical and healthcare insurance companies are all significant actors in the industry. The identified categories have different and competing visions that have a big impact on how healthcare is delivered around the world. The varied visions arise from various factors that may include quality, costs, sustainability, and the value of human dignity (Meyer & O'Brien-Pallas, 2010).
