Spiritual Needs Assessment and Reflection Assignment

Essay Instructions:

This assignment requires you to interview one person and requires an analysis of your interview experience.
Part I: Interview
Select a patient, a family member, or a friend to interview. Be sure to focus on the interviewee's experience as a patient, regardless of whom you choose to interview.
Review The Joint Commission resource found in topic materials, which provides some guidelines for creating spiritual assessment tools for evaluating the spiritual needs of patients. Using this resource and any other guidelines/examples that you can find, create your own tool for assessing the spiritual needs of patients.
Your spiritual needs assessment survey must include a minimum of five questions that can be answered during the interview. During the interview, document the interviewee's responses.
The transcript should include the questions asked and the answers provided. Be sure to record the responses during the interview by taking detailed notes. Omit specific names and other personal information through which the interviewee can be determined.
Part II: Analysis
Write a 500-750 word analysis of your interview experience. Be sure to exclude specific names and other personal information from the interview. Instead, provide demographics such as sex, age, ethnicity, and religion. Include the following in your response:
What went well?
Were there any barriers or challenges that inhibited your ability to complete the assessment tool? How would you address these in the future or change your assessment to better address these challenges?
How can this tool assist you in providing appropriate interventions to meet the needs of your patient?
Did you discover that illness and stress amplified the spiritual concern and needs of your interviewee? Explain your answer with examples.
Submit both the transcript of the interview and the analysis of your results. This should be submitted as one document. The interview transcript does not figure into the word count.

Spiritual Assessment
I chose to interview a patient diagnosed with HIV, a disease that troubles several people in the current world. Most people do not wish to contract the disease, whether by accident or knowingly. My client for the interview is a young woman, aged 27, and a Christian whose knowledge of the infection had a pressure into her at the age of 26. In the interview, it was evident how the young woman held strong scientific and spiritual ideas, which Cook, (2013) agrees is common with Christians. Her adolescent life before 25 was full of pleasure and sexual activity, a fact that collides with her current religious ideologies. The interview seeks to find out the views Christians, her included, have for the disease that some people associate with immorality.
Most of the discussions were okay during the interview as the lady responded openly. She highlighted the views most people have for the diseases and that which affects her most. Mostly, people believe that AIDs is a result of some immoral living, associated with sexual activities (Cook, 2013). A barrier in the assessment was in the few people to respond to the interview. During the interview, I noticed the need to have people from the family to collect the views they have for the lady. It will be a need because she informs me that the family has good relationships with her and are aware of her conditions. Reasons for incorporating family members are to have multiple thoughts into the matter and come up with meaningful conclusions.
These challenges would be easy to address in future by having several people for the interview. If I have information from several patients, Christians and more members of the family, diverse views will fulfill the needs for the assignment. In doing so, it will be possible to have both genders to crosscheck if the beliefs people have for the males were similar to those of the female patients. More details should emerge on the specific answers people have against a Christian contracting HIV. For now, the topic people attach to HIV on the Christian realms is immorality. If there is another reason other than the scientific cases, it will be possible to highlight and include in the interview answers. Finally, the perceptions of all the people, whether male or female on these views by the society will help as an understanding of the broad topic, majorly Christians, as (Cook, 2013) advises.
My patient requires an emotional support from the views people have on her. In any case, she speaks of her condition people make it easy to have a connection with the situation for the causes. The connection is on the Christian basis. Family members are passion...
